World Environment Day is celebrated every year on June 5th to promote awareness and action for environmental protection. This day is supported by many non-profit and government organizations, and represents a major United Nations event to raise attention and encourage action for environmental conservation. The event was initiated in 1973 to raise awareness of environmental issues. As part of its effort to promote environmental conservation, Social Xleration organized a planting drive in the small village of Wan in the Garhwal region and Chamoli district of Uttarakhand on June 5th, 2023 in association with Sai Sanskaar Foundation. As part of the drive, local youths were mobilized and actively participated in planting trees in targeted areas of the village. The drive reinforced the importance of positive environmental action among other locals in the area.
