A day-long follow up program on Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) was organized for women by Social Xleration on 2nd April, 2021 at Sanauli village of Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh. The event was organized at the village higher primary school. The intention of the follow-up was to verify whether the women had followed the learnings from the awareness program held earlier and were abiding with the cleanliness and hygiene practices. The session was attended by 25 female participants. To confirm the level of understanding, the facilitator evaluated the knowledge level of the participants on various aspects of the SBM.
They participants were also urged to don the role of the SBM Ambassadors and spread its message in their proximity. Few participants revealed that they had developed a small group to amplify the message of the SBM in their area. The other participants shared that they also intend to replicate this model to propagate the message of SBM. While there was some resistance by local people in following the hygiene and sanitation norms, the women were confident that with prolonged engagement they will convince them to do so. They shared that they will convince the households without toilets to get it built under the government scheme. The session was highly effective in as giving them further confidence to disseminate the best practices in their area.
