Seminars to Combat Malnutrition Held in Unnao district

25 & 23 October 2021, Unnao district, Uttar Pradesh

India needs to combat malnutrition on a war footing, as it continues to trail behind in the hunger index as well as signs of stunting and wasting. On October 25, 2021, Social Xleration held a seminar at Nepalpur village in Unnao district, Uttar Pradesh, on how children can come out of this vicious cycle of malnutrition. The need for a well-balanced and nutritious diet was stressed to the participants. It was urged to consume foods such as grains, pulses, green leafy vegetables, spinach, fenugreek, cholai, and mustard, as well as yellow fruits, mango, and ripe papaya. They were educated about the necessity of immunizing children and mothers at the appropriate time, as well as medicines for mothers such as IFA tablets and IFA syrup. Hunger and malnutrition are caused by underlying problems such as poverty, inequality, and unsustainable food systems. They were also told about the numerous government programs aimed at combating malnutrition and hunger. This seminar drew a total of 42 students and 5 teachers. A similar seminar was held earlier on 23 October 2021 in Akbarpur village in Unnao district, which was attended by 98 students and 7 teachers.
