Social Xleration Advances Knowledge of Farmers on Organic Farming in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh

To further develop consciousness and encourage adoption of organic farming among the farmers of Sanauli village of Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, Social Xleration put together a one-day training session on 26th January 2021 at the village. The training held at the village higher primary school was attended by 36 local farmers while orienting them on organic farming underlined the need for its practice to ensure that their cultivation land stays free of different harmful chemicals comprising fertilizers, pesticides, and others and help them earn a premium through this effort. During the course of the training, the participating farmers were informed how organic farming using bacterial fertilizers contributes and ensue in long-term and stable produce without using chemical fertilizers, pesticides, weedicides, and growth controllers made in factories that cause soil and environmental pollution ultimately leading to poor human health. They were informed about vermin-compost and NADEP compost and how to use locally available resources such as cow dung and urine to make organic fertilizers and pesticides. It was stressed that over the years organic farming has also undergone a transformation and it was possible to get higher agricultural production. The farmers shared posit5ive feedback at the end of the training and decided to approach Krishi Vigyan Kendra and other institutions to be able to commence organic farming. They also requested Social Xleration for frequent training sessions in the future.
