On the occasion of World Breastfeeding Week (WBW), Social Xleration organized a training program on various issues related to breastfeeding in Bakauli village of Banikodar block in Barabanki district, Uttar Pradesh on 6 August, 2021 to sensitize women on the importance of breastfeeding for mothers and their children. This program drew 78 women from two Anganwadi Centers, who were mostly pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. The year’s WBW theme “Protect Breastfeeding – A Shared Responsibility,” WBW objectives, current scenario of breastfeeding, benefits of breastfeeding for mothers and children, points to remember for correct breastfeeding, common breastfeeding problems, reasons for inappropriate breastfeeding practices, and responsibilities of Union and state governments were among the major topics covered during training. At the conclusion of the program, all of the participants agreed to observe the relevant norms and regulations, as well as the important recommendations for impact-oriented breastfeeding.
