5 to 9 June, 2023, Hardoi district, Uttar Pradesh
World Environment Day (WED) is celebrated every year on June 5th to raise awareness about protecting the environment. To commemorate World Environment Day, Social Xleration got together with the people of Janigaon village in the Hardoi district of Uttar Pradesh. The program was spread over a few days. For the program, posters were developed with persuasive slogans promoting a clean and safe environment. The celebrations kicked off on 5th June with an orientation to the village children about World Environment Day. Thereafter, a procession was carried out in the village with posters on World Environment Day. After that, plantations were undertaken at two locations.
On 6th June, there was a quiz for children, and a procession was held in the village. This was followed by plantation activities at three locations. On June 7th, home visits were conducted urging the villagers to maintain a clean and safe environment. It was accompanied by a plantation drive. On 8th June, games were organized for children teaching them how to prevent pollution along with some plantation activities. The program concluded on 9th June with an in-depth talk on WED and prizes were given to children who showed extraordinary enthusiasm during the entire program.
