Social Xleration Strengthens Consciousness Among Students on World Water Day

At a time when one in three people on the planet is without access to safe drinking water, the urgency of saving water could not be overemphasized.  On the occasion of “World Water Day”, which is celebrated on 22nd March every year since 1993 in order to raise awareness regarding the importance of freshwater, Social Xleration put together an awareness event followed by a drawing contest at Saraswati Children Inter College, Takrohi area of Lucknow. The awareness session and contest drew approximately 40 students. The children were educated on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the concept of sustainability. They were made aware of the devastating effects of water scarcity on humanity. The participants were educated on how to save water and were encouraged to use it wisely so that future generations would not be bereft of it. All contestants were asked to create a collage depicting ways to save and save water as part of the drawing contest. Ms. Nandini Sahu of 11th standard bagged the first prize, while Saniya Quraishi of 9th standard and Shivam Maurya of 12th standard bagged the second and third prize respectively. Seven more participants were awarded consolation prizes.
